Commissioning A Piece

Thank you for your interest in commissioning an animal portrait!  Here’s some general information as well as steps to initiate the process:

General Info:

  • I work from photos supplied by you. When it comes to fabric mosaics, it’s important to note that some photos translate better than others.  Size, detail and clarity of the photo(s) are important considerations in getting the best result.

  • These original portraits, whether done on wood or canvas, are signed, dated and ready to hang.

  • Portrait pricing (single subject) for standard sizes is listed on the Commissions Price List If you are interested in a different size, please let me know and I will provide pricing.

Steps to Initiate a Commission:

  1. Reach out through email, phone/text, or the Contact Form and let me know what you are interested in, including the subject (dog, cat, ferret..), suggested size of the finished piece and anything else you want me to know. For example, I love hearing about the personality of your pet!   It inspires and informs me as I create a portrait of your special friend.

  2. Next, we’ll discuss your request and the process in more detail via phone/text and/or email. For example, we can look at your photo(s), discuss canvas options, canvas size, frame options and general timeframe for delivery.

  3. Once we have agreed on a photo of the subject, the size, timeline, price, etc., I will provide a Commission Agreement for your signature.  One half of the total cost will be due up front as a non-refundable deposit.  The other half will be due upon receipt and approval of the finished portrait.  This may be paid by check or through Venmo (preferred).

  4. Please note that these mosaic portraits take many days, sometimes weeks (depending on size) to complete.  I’ll keep you updated on my progress on your piece throughout the process.  And please, if you have any questions in the interim, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you!
